Game Levels

   I have several levels I've built and a few more I'm working on here.

  • Unreal Death Match Level

       I had a really cool idea to do the inside and outside of a castle. I laid out on paper and it was pointed out that it was way too much for one person. I tried building a small part and found it to be a major under taking.

       So when I got involved in a group project I offered the idea since it was cool idea. With three people working on it, the design changed from three different perspectives. My buddy Phillip figured out the torches and Ian built half the models and I had the rest while Kris was blocking out BSP. There was more to it than that but I mostly remember trying to fake the water getting the circular ramp to work with the model geometry. Building extra stuff and having my brain picked for stuff I had done in UT before.

       Some of the ideas I had like a circular stair inside the tower at the corners ended up being way more work that it was worth in the end. It was cool but I think the I spent figuring out how to allow the players to run up the piece of geometry might not have been worth it.

       The water was insane to build and we went from a fountain to well you jump down into a secret room, with a hidden redeemer I forgot to mention until it was found in play testing. I have to thank my buddy Kris for figuring out how to get the walls to slam shut on players, which ended up working exactly how I wanted it to.

     I think I will go back and rebuild this in UT3, so I can normal map the walls and add in the rest of the things we had to cut due to time.
